We are living under the restrictions due to COVID-19 and it's very hard.
Nevertheless we, my wife and I, went for a trip by car.
We started on Sunday, the 18th of July at 09:15 h and reached Wernigerode, a town in the west of Saxony-Anhalt, at 01:30 p.m.
to Schierke where we started the walk to the peak of the "Brocken".

My wife and I spent 14 wonderful days on the Canary Island of Lanzarote. It was a time around our wedding anniversary - 55 years of marriage. We visited different places, hiked and enjoyed good food.
Our tour operator Schauinsland booked the airline Corendon.
Our start was on November 9th, 2021: Get up at 02:55 a.m., at 04:25 a.m. the taxi came and took us to Düsseldorf Airport. Due to the extensive controls, we should be there 3 hours before departure. We were there at 4:55 a.m. The check-in counter opened at 5:30 a.m. We were dispatched at 05:35 a.m. We rushed to the security checkpoint. There was hardly any crowd. The control was from 05:40-05:45 a.m. Now we had a lot of time, because boarding was from 07:35-07:50 a.m. We would have spent the hour better at home in bed!
The Boeing 737-800 started at 08:05 a.m., take off at 08:15 a.m.
The seats on the plane are a bit tight. But it was not fully occupied.
The landing was at 11:50 a.m. (10:50 a.m. local time), 40 minutes before the flight plan.
Baggage claim was from 11:25-11:50 a.m. Then we had to walk with our luggage quite a distance to the bus stop for the transfer to the hotel. The transfer time for a route that normally takes 20 or 25 minutes took from 12:30-1:25 p.m., because several other hotels were approached.
We finally arrived at the hotel where we stayed in November 2019.
After we had settled in the apartment and done the shopping in the Supermercado, we strolled on the beach promenade.
In the evening we dined in the "Famara" restaurant. It later turned out that we were "ripped off". We had to pay dearly for the "Greetings from the kitchen", which is free in Germany. - So: watch out!
We did not book a rental car because the prices have risen sharply due to Corona.
So the next day, Wednesday, November 10th, 2021, we took the 03 bus to Costa Teguise. There we hiked along the beach and looked at the place. A lot had changed since 2019. It's amazing what was built there in the 2 years.
We had dinner in the restaurant "El Golfo" in Puerto del Carmen. We had eaten there several times in 1977 and in 2019 as well.
On Thursday, November 11th, 2021 we took the 09 bus to Òrzola. From the port we hiked over the "Camino natural" to Haría.
We started at 11:30 a.m. and arrived in Haría at 3:30 p.m.
There we refreshed ourselves with Coca-Cola and Sangría in the restaurant "El Cortijo" - translation: "the farmhouse".
In addition to "normal" dishes, the menu also offers goat, kid and rabbit. We enjoyed goat and kid - delicious, as it was described in our travel guide.
The prices in this restaurant are quite acceptable!
After we had walked a little through Haría after the meal break and had looked at the place, we took the bus back to Puerto del Carmen at 6:00 p.m., where we arrived at 8:00 p.m.
The bus journeys on Lanzarote take longer, despite the relatively short distances, because there are many stops. The bus routes are mainly set up for the population, not for the tourists.
Friday, November 12th, 2021 was a day of relaxation. We are not "water frogs"! Therefore we were neither in the Atlantic nor in the pool of the hotel during the entire stay. However, we walked along the beach and bathed our feet in the sea.
The dinner took us to the restaurant "Mardeleva", which was described in the travel guide as typical of the country with regard to the dishes. Unfortunately that is probably not the case today. We were a little disappointed!
On Saturday, November 13th, 2021 we visited the museum "Fundación César Manrique" in Tahiche.
Because the buses run less often at the weekend, the outward journey took 165 minutes and the return journey 135 minutes due to the waiting times between the connections. That filled the day well, because the museum tour only lasted 60 minutes for € 10 per person.
For dinner we went to the Fantástico restaurant. We were quite happy with the menu.
On Sunday, November 14th, 2021 we had another day of relaxation. Between the breaks we walked from 12:15 on the beach promenade, which is very nicely designed, to the district of Matagorda. There we had lunch in the "Pizz. Italica" restaurant. Then we explored the area and were back at the hotel at 4:45 p.m. We had dinner in the restaurant "Tropicana". There was nothing wrong with it!
On Monday, November 15th, 2021 we continued our hike on the Camino natural from Teguise to San Bartolomé. After the bus ride to the starting point Teguise, we hiked from 11:20 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. That is the shortest part of the route. There we had lunch in the bar "La Plaza".
In the evening we celebrated our wedding anniversary (55 years) in the restaurant "La Sirena"
On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, we took bus lines 03 and 52 to San Bartolomé. This section of the Camino natural to Yaiza is the longest. That was too long for us, because we are no longer the youngest (over 70 years old). We set Tias as the end point of the day's stage. We ran from 11:20 a.m. to 2:10 p.m.
We took the number 34 bus back to Puerto del Carmen. In the evening we ate in the restaurant "Casa Tina's" - satisfactory.
On Wednesday, November 17th, 2021 we hiked from the old port of Puerto del Carmen along the coast to Puerto Calero. and back again - from 9:45 a.m. to 1:25 p.m. We didn't have to rely on any means of transport.
In the evening we visited the Chinese restaurant "Asian" at the old port and feasted on 3 delicious dishes.
On Thursday, November 18th, 2021 we decided not to continue the hike on the Camino natural. We had problems with our feet (blisters, etc.). But we had to do something because we always want to be on the move. So we took the 161 bus to Yaiza. There we visited the place and the surrounding area. After about an hour we took the number 161 bus to Playa Blanca.
There we first took a coffee break with iced coffee. Later we toured the place. At 3:10 p.m. we took the number 60 bus to Tias.
There we had planned to eat tapas in the restaurant "La Ermita". We also do that, from 3:50 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
With the bus line 34 we went back to Puerto del Carmen at 4:40 p.m. At 5:05 p.m. we were back at the hotel and enjoyed the sea view from our balcony.
Dinner was canceled because we are watching our weight.
On Friday, November 19th, 2021 we walked from 09:25 to 11:20 a.m. along the beach with our feet in the Atlantic.
The afternoon was spent relaxing with sunbathing and a sea view from the balcony.
In the evening we went to "El Golfo" again for dinner.
On Saturday, November 20th, 2021 we took the 03 bus to Arrecife. There we walked around from 10:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and discovered this and that.
We had lunch from 11:55 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. in the restaurant "Papa Miguel".
With the bus line 03 we drove back to Puerto del Carmen at 2:25 p.m.
For dinner we went to the "Steakhouse Fariones", where we ate delicious (from 5:55 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.).
On Sunday, November 21st, 2021 we took the 03 bus again at 9:50 a.m. to Costa Teguise, where we strolled along the beach promenade and discovered new corners of the village. We walked around from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. - with a short break with Coca-Cola and crepe.
The bus line 03 brought us back to Puerto del Carmen from 1:05 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Then we bathed our feet in the Atlantic from about 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., because our feet had endured a lot.
Dinner took us again to the fish in a salt coat (restaurant "La Sirena") from 5:40 p.m. to 7:50 p.m.
Unfortunately, Monday, November 22nd, 2021 was our last day.
We relaxed in the sun and went through Puerto del Carmen and the beach one more time.
In between we prepared our journey home - pack our bags!
We spent the evening before from 5:35 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. with fish & chips in the restaurant "Casa Tina's". Then we enjoyed the sea view and the starry sky with a beer "San Miguel" on our balcony until late in the evening.
Our journey home (bus transfer to the airport) started on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 at 9:35 a.m. Sadness filled our hearts, because it was probably our last stay on this bitter-beautiful island. Not because we are that old, but because we have many other travel destinations in our planning!
At 10:05 a.m. we were at the airport. The check-in counter opened at 10:30 a.m. We were dispatched at 10:55 a.m. The security check was from 11:00 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. Boarding was from 11:55 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The Boeing 737-800 started at 12:20 p.m. and took off at 12:30 p.m.
The first approach to Düsseldorf took place at 5:30 p.m. local time, the second at 5:40 p.m. and the third, finally successful, at 5:55 p.m. The pilot's explanation was only vague and in English, so incomprehensible. The stewardess's translation was confusing.
We already had a queasy feeling when we started twice!
Baggage claim took place from 6:05 p.m. to 6:35 p.m. Then we went home by train. We arrived there at 8:00 p.m.
